[1: 377 of 10,000] Laugh Or Cry But There’s A Twist

Being an optimistic person and trying to be righteous as much as I can, the question posted by Scott Berkun “Would you rather laugh with sinners, or cry with saints?” lead me to answer laugh with sinners.

I am not perfect – let me put that out in the open before I may sound pretentious; I may not be perfect but I am fully aware of my actions and very conscientious. I get overboard sometimes that I act crazy but it doesn’t mean that I still don’t recognize to stop and do what’s right.

So what made me go with the laughing with sinners – I am hoping I could bring light; being a mess up sometimes give me enough experience that I do understand the sinners’ predicament and we can both become good or better human beings. Remember Jesus’ statement on Matthew 9:12, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” I don’t want to sound too biblical or religious (Scott you started it) but I am about to go to that road now… I am baptized as a Roman Catholic and I have the desire to share God’s love and words in every chance I can.

My thoughts on cry with saints, there may be martyr tears but deep inside the saints’ hearts is pure bliss because they knew they got God with them. Hugh Grant playing the role of George Wade may have said “Saints are boring!” but I just don’t feel they need my company or not just yet.

  1. What you wrote makes a lot of sense to me, dear Ryeter.

I noticed one blogger was also inspired to write a blog of her own after this question provoked her to do some thinking of her own. This blogger remembered from the past how she got to know about one person who acted from the outside as though he was a very saintly person. In reality this person commited unimaginable sins. It is implied that there were people who knew about his sins but kept quiet because they were in the pockets of that monstrous sinner. Wouldn’t you want to weep with sinners like that?I really don’t think mortal sins are a laughing matter.!

It probably is somewhat different with venial sins. Those little sins can be overcome and by overcoming them we may even joke a bit about them. Saintly people are usually no joke to us. However we might feel like weeping if a saintly person gets perscuted.

I glanced through the responses. One blogger said something similar. I think he refered to life’s a circle: What comes up, comes down, and that we may sometimes weep with sinners and laugh with saints!
