[1: 1,398 of 10,000] Simon Sinek’s Start With Why

In Article on February 2, 2015 at 1:30 AM

Start With WhyI totally recognise the power of a great book and Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why” goes to my favourite of all time. I am working to start our own business (with the right alignments of the star this year meaning lots of hard work and perseverance from my end) and his idea is a perfect way to cover the base (very Meghan Trainor kind of base).

The lessons I’ve absorbed with my very own interpretation are the following amazing AHAs:

  • A company’s reason of existing should be greater than its self. I think what it also tries to say is to use my God-given talent and share it to the world. The nicest kind of vision!
  • A company’s reason is the WHY but it still needs help on HOW are you going to do it and WHAT are you going to produce that jives to it. When the WHAT and HOW are in alignment with WHY, then sure success is going to happen as there is true authenticity at work.
  • When the WHY is clear and properly communicated, it will attract and win LOYAL customers internally (employees and shareholders) and externally (end-user). They buy the product/service not just because of the product/service but because they believe the company’s reason of existence or what the company believes.

[1: 1,381 of 10,000] The Choice We Make

In Article on December 5, 2014 at 4:23 PM

It baffles me that being an adult doesn’t still give us the wisdom to choose the right one, because we find it difficult to accept the consequences and taking responsibility not to cause agony even to people we believe we love. Why could we see ourselves trying to hurt back or take revenge?

Why couldn’t I settled to draw a clear line and never ever cross it? Because being humane needs to be involved, and I was never born to be silent when I see something is very wrong.

Our choice right now defines our next move. I have to gather my wit and this time I have to just think about me and how I will create a ripple that would bless my heart with pure joy. I will be brave because I can hold on to God. I will keep my intentions clean, my thought pure, my actions impeccable, my words kind, and my fire light up and moving.

[1: 1,380 of 10,000] I Am So Scared

In Journal on December 5, 2014 at 3:04 PM

I’m scared because I don’t know how will I do it but I know inside my heart that I got to do something wonderful if I want to be striving to be alive. I kept myself in the mud for a long time that I am unclear of my dreams anymore. The basic run down, I know I want to be happy, fulfilled, purposeful, and surrounded with the right people.

I am scared that I will trust people too fast again that I get my heart broken all over with disappointments for not being revered the way I hoped and longed for. My head couldn’t focused with the right materials because I am imprisoned with my doubts and demons.

I have to act, I got to move, I got to be brave, and yes I have to pour my heart in again.

[1: 1,343 of 10,000] The Good Assistant Buys a MacBook Air

In Article on August 30, 2014 at 10:00 PM

I like to think that I am a good Assistant to the Owner of the company. My madness doesn’t end with acting like his wife, therapist, bitch, but I wanted to really feel how to be in his zone so I could make life easier and convenient for him. (I do believe one day I will have the best assistant of my own running the best business that I love.)

It is not really about losing my personality but I try to get things that he uses that I am not familiar with especially if I really think it is valuable. I bought a MacBook Air so whenever he gets lost in the haywire I could bring him right back to civilisation. I quickly shifted from Nokia mobile phone to iPhone. I read about Buddhism because he said he believes it; and ended up I have learned more than he knows?? I am even doing this without rubbing it off his face because it should be my responsibility to be abreast and a wonder woman!

My mother trained me well in making a customer comfortable and pleasing people that they are not inconvenient. My boss who is quite impatient is absolutely lucky for knowing me and offering me a job. He taught me a lot but I am sure my story doesn’t end here. Don’t get me wrong, I love Donna but I know in every inch of my being, I am a Jessica.

[1: 1,339 of 10,000] I Like Dubizzle

In Review on August 16, 2014 at 8:58 AM

I love the Dubai, UAE Dubizzle and the Dubai Users.

I have moved for several times in Dubai and moving to a new place means changing some of the pieces I would be bringing with me so Dubizzle helped me disposed the other times that are in perfect condition but is better off in a new household.

It is also fun to meet different people and nationality during the negotiations and then finally item collection or delivery.

The challenging part is having to lock down a negotiation and the buyer was completely a liar for not making his commitment to pick-up an item after negotiating of even meeting to a certain place!!! But that has happened just once so I am still excited to sell in Dubizzle.

[1: 1,338 of 10,000] The Classy McDonald’s

In Review on August 16, 2014 at 8:04 AM

Detail is important because it makes things elevate their beauty.

The photo below is one of the branches of McDonald’s at Dubai Media City and I truly appreciate that they have marble top tables and steel stand because it is not only sturdy but classy. It may be fast food but they still worked out to become elegant in their little ways.

[1: 1,241 of 10,000] Good Business Advice from a Sheikh

In Article on December 15, 2013 at 3:21 PM

A1 Grand PrixI saw a video with Shaikh Maktoum Hasha Maktoum Al Maktoum and he shared a very good business advice:

  1. Be straight / direct.
  2. Be truthful / honest.
  3. Be clear.

They are pretty simple but simple words that are the best way to relay direction.

Be straight / direct. No double meaning, no bushing around, and just do what needs to be done.

Be truthful / honest. It would be nice that doing business is simply doing it honestly without ripping anyone but serving the market with the best product and service the company is capable and great at doing.

Be clear. We got to admit that some plans went wrong because of wrong instruction. I cannot emphasize being clear enough and calm are as crucial as to working things efficiently.

[1: 1,203 of 10,000] Women Are Beautiful

In Article on November 9, 2013 at 4:34 AM

Women are beautiful and yet we become so critical on defining a real beauty. I admire the new campaign of Dove (I don’t work for them, that’s for certain, but I should as I love their products) where they stopped just making plain business (taking money from people in exchange of goods) into going to have a soul.

Watch the video below to see what I meant:

The ad brought me to tears and melted my heart. We do tend to forget how gorgeous we are and it makes it better when team of creative and business people go a new kind of mile to remind us just how much we shouldn’t forget.

[1: 1,107 of 10,000] Quality

In Article on August 7, 2013 at 12:00 AM

I love to do great things. I want my work to be exquisite, exceptional, and memorable. I want perfection that I don’t have to defend myself but everything speaks for itself.

Tiffany StoreFor days I have been looking for a perfect diamond ring for my everyday use. The cheap stores don’t have any rock that really speak to me. The size was about right but the diamond doesn’t sparkle enough. The price is right and even available in an easy installment plan at 0% interest and yet the design isn’t just right. Until I entered at Tiffany & Co. and so many of their wonderful pieces spoke to me. Every single piece is magnificent.

I want to be Tiffany & Co. that could deliver something amazing to every single store visitor. It is possible and I got to work on it. I have to put more works including late hours to juggle work and my real life; and I need to be smarter. I also need to be perked up, optimistic, and become a real gladiator with a soul. Whew! I am extremely inspired. Thank you God.
