[1: 1,035 of 10,000] Weekly Photo Challenge: Culture

In Photo on May 30, 2013 at 12:00 AM

Different culture sat down to watch a belly dancer in the middle of Dubai desert.

Whatever the culture is, everyone understood the dancer requesting for a louder clapping as she dances with the beat.

And the greatest turnaround about the night is when a toddler went up to the stage, go in front of the dancer, and the performer picked the kid. Everyone was waiting for the next move and clapped as soon as the dad went up the stage to claim his son back to where he should be sitting, beside him.

[1: 1,034 of 10,000] Weekly Photo Challenge: Pattern

In Photo on May 29, 2013 at 12:00 AM

I had my first henna tattoo that would last for the next 7 days and I am quite fascinated with the pattern especially the one created for me got 2s in it (my favorite number). The one with hot pink nails are mine while my sissy owned the other.

Henna actually smells and it’s gives a little bit of pinch for sometime but bearable upon application. It’s one of the first times that I consider fun and worth trying.

[1: 1,033 of 10,000] Weekly Photo Challenge: Escape

My last week was filled with blues. I broke down and cried in front of a stranger (at least someone I don’t completely trust with my life). He said I broke his heart for seeing me crying and for I admitting that I am sad, stupid, and disappointed. It is sinking in that I am not happy with my work, it is starting to reflect all over my face, and if only I can afford I am surely quitting my job instantly.

I didn’t actually pack my things to escape life but I get on a 4×4 land cruiser and hit the Dubai desert for a quick safari. It was the first time that I appreciated wearing seat belt to ensure I don’t hit my head as we slope down and face the creamy sands right in front of the car. It was not as scary and exhilarating as riding a donkey beside a cliff in Jordan or taking a roller coaster ride but for a while it was an adventure and an experience.

All I can say during the whole ride was “weeeeee!!!” with a smile. 🙂

[1: 1,032 of 10,000] Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background

In Photo on May 27, 2013 at 12:00 AM

I went in the middle of the desert last weekend to experience Dubai in a different light. The bunch of tourist technically counting me waited for the dinner to be served from an open camp.

The curious cat in me went closer to where the barbecue action is, they worked fast in the background. I was later delighted for their efforts that fed me with tasty kebab, delicate fish, perfectly roasted potato with skin on, and a cute drumstick chicken. The feast was matched with a friendly temperature that was cool and not yet with the annoying summer night heat.

Beer Battered Fish

Lunchtime serving is Beer Battered White Fish topped with Honey Mustard Sauce, which we decided that it will go with white rice. Beer battering inspired by Guy Fieri.

It has been a while since our 2 cans of beers in the fridge wait for us to do a beer battered something. Our home is filled with Tequila and Vodka drinkers, we’re not really the beer types.

The food turned out to be super crispy and we might stock few beers for the sake of beer battering from now on.

90 Days

Today is a beginning of a 90-day countdown in our home. It is a new adventure that gives me frantic butterflies in my stomach but I know that it is a decision on moving forward.

Watch out Australia, my sissy is coming! I pray that by next year, my youngest sissy and I are finally moving too. For now, I will enjoy Dubai as much as I can.

[1: 956 of 10,000] 11-11-11

It amazes me seeing things that has a match like I took an iPhone screenshot of March 11, 2013 at 11:11PM.

Yeah 11:11 on a date of 11th don’t mean anything at all but somehow it resonates that life is a combination of science where we can count things and human’s kinder spirit to get inspired with simple things to go beyond what is obvious – or a simple way of saying making things a bit complicated to get a new brilliant idea.

It makes me smile whenever I see my phone reflecting the hour is of the same number as the minute. My favorite number is 2 so it is totally acceptable and a bit less weird.

This is a good take for the Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details too 😉

And the sun embraced me with its warmth

I consider Dubai my Home right now.

Dubai is never complete without the iconic 7-star Hotel Burj Al Arab that was designed like a sailboat.
