[1: 1,232 of 10,000] Judging A Story Teller

In Article on December 6, 2013 at 1:07 PM
I am obsessed with TED talks because it shares ideas on video (very convenient) for someone like me that needed quick fix of stimulation and new perspective. Go to YouTube and check on TED channel (in case you’re wondering, no I am not being paid to promote either YouTube or TEC channel, but I must say I dream to be giving a talk at TED’s soon *wink*).
I came across a modest story teller. I really don’t know what he was supposed to say and how he will say it, but based on my initial encounters, these certainly caught my attention and stirred my curiosity…

Judging with the title – Boyd Varty: What I learned from Nelson Mandela
So many people admired Nelson Mandela and to hear someone speak about him who seemed to be in contact personally – intrigued me.
Judging with the origin – Africa
The whole continent seems very humble, full of story, and I visualised it as ‘too hot,’ literally weather based and they love the outdoor adventure. I am not really fond of going out under the sun and sweating, so to see people fascinated in that circumstance amazes me.
After watching the video – Totally Inspired by Ubuntu
Amazing how a 15 minute video could give me a different satisfaction that nourishes my soul. His stories were told from the heart and I could sense his gratefulness and innocent amazement. It’s beautiful to hear his wonders and he imparted a word that would stick to my being for lifetime – Ubuntu (I am; because of you). The talk was not about Nelson Mandela’s life, it was for him, but most of all the root of the talk embodies the great legacy of Mandela.
Now, watch the video yourself and see what you’ll discover –

[1: 1,219 of 10,000] A New Blind Man’s Perspective

In Article on November 23, 2013 at 12:59 AM

I like Chris Downey, an Architect who became blind on 2008 due to a brain surgery. He was able to see more when he lost his sight. Losing something so useful as eye sight actually gave him a meaningful perspective about love from strangers and incredibly about designing a city.

The most amazing revelation was his desire to still be a DAD for his SON. It was his love for his child that made him not sulk  but look at the brighter side and keep moving forward. He wasn’t ungrateful that he became blind, he was ecstatic that he’s alive and will be around for his son.

The city was also good for the blind! Isn’t that a great thing for all the people who are reading this blog (to those who can see). Its sheer humanity that we try to connect with someone who obviously is vulnerable but looked descent to just truly live.

The next time you need an intelligent inspiration just go to the different youtube videos of TED Talks.

The great speakers that they feature are intellectual, engaging, entertaining, has sense of humour, and enlightening. I received a eNewsletter from Oprah Winfrey featuring Brene Brown who is famous on giving talks at TED. I watched her video and got so amazed on her discovery of the magic of “vulnerability”.

[1: 934 of 10,000] This Short Music Video Makes Me Smile

In Review on February 18, 2013 at 11:59 PM

This 1:26 video taken from the movie Music & Lyrics fill my empty unmelodic head. The lyrics is a bit sad that he is jobless but the romance part is simply nice. I can listen to this over and over right now. Hugh’s voice is charming too!

[1: 798 of 10,000] This Prayer Song Never Fails To Touch My Heart & Breaks Me Into A Meaningful Tear

In Prayer on October 12, 2012 at 9:23 AM

All that I am and all that I have
I lay them down before you, O Lord
All my regrets and all my acclaims
The joy and the pain
I’m making them yours

Lord, I offer my life to you
Everything I’ve been through
Use it for your glory
And Lord I offer my days to you
Lifting my praise to you
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer you my life

Things in the past, things yet unseen
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my hopes, all of my plans
My heart and my hands are lifted to you

Lord, I offer my life to you
Everything I’ve been through
Use it for your glory
And Lord I offer my days to you
Lifting my praise to you
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer you my life

What can we give
That you have not given?
And what do we have
That is not already yours?
All we possess
Are these lives we are living
That’s what we give to you, Lord

Lord, I offer my life to you
Everything I’ve been through
Use it for your glory
And Lord I offer my days to you
Lifting my praise to you
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer you my life
